The Howard County Public School System is looking for students and community members to join its Instructional Materials/Criteria Review Committee.

The committee is responsible for reviewing and revising the selection criteria for instructional materials. It also reviews materials requested for reevaluation.

Two two-year seats are open on the committee for students, while five two-year seats are open to members of the community. New members will be selected in September and begin their terms in October.

Those interested in the seats must fill out an application, which can be found on the system's Web site, www.hcpss.org, under the "latest news" heading.

Applications are due to Elaine Zavaleta, Office of Secondary Language Arts, by Aug. 29.
