This easy-to-cook "pudding" is a classic, made easy by modern supermarkets that stock grape juice and instant Cream of Wheat. For the best price on sesame seeds, check a Middle Eastern market or health food store.

1/4 cup sesame seeds, toasted

8 cups grape juice or sweet wine (purple or white, but purple's more fun)

1/2 cup honey

1 cup instant Cream of Wheat

2/3 cup chopped walnuts

Cinnamon and nutmeg

Vanilla-flavored yogurt, ice cream or whipped cream, for serving

Mint leaves, garnish

Almond cookies, optional go-withs

Toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet on top of the stove. Or in the oven, for 10 minutes at 325 degrees.

In large pot, heat grape juice and honey to boiling. Stir in Cream of Wheat and cook over medium-low heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring often.

Pour mixture into individual stemmed dessert dishes. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg, chopped walnuts and toasted sesame seeds. Chill. At serving time, dollop on some vanilla yogurt, ice cream or whipped cream. Garnish with mint leaves. Pass the cookies. Makes 8 or more servings.
