The nonprofit organization Paul's Place is hosting a benefit, A Touchdown for Pigtown Gala, Saturday, March 28, 6:30-11 p.m., at M&T Bank Stadium's Southwest Suites, Club Level. Paul's Place is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Baltimore's Washington Village/Pigtown community. On the bill will be dinner, dessert, the big band Shades of Blue and auctions. Jewish films

Baltimore's Jewish Community Center will hold its annual film festival April 1-May 14, at the Gordon Center for Performing Arts (with two additional films at the Beth El Congregation and St. Paul's School for Girls). This year's lineup will offer 10 films along with guest speakers. Films include "The Little Traitor," "Max Minsky and Me," "The Clown and the Fuhrer," "Noodle," "The Secrets," "The Debt," "Fugitive Pieces," "Circumcise Me: The Comedy of Yisrael Campbell," plus "The Monster Among Us" and "The Chosen Ones." Interactive wine

Georg Riedel, the 10th generation family member of Riedel Stemware, will lead an interactive Riedel Wine Seminar Tuesday, March 31, 5:45 p.m., at Gramercy Mansion, 1440 Greenspring Valley Road in Stevenson. The event, which will feature catering by Chef's Expressions, will offer a wine tasting tutorial and information on how the shape and size of glasses affects people's perception of wine. Circus at the Arena

This year's edition of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus rolls into town Wednesday-Sunday, March 25-April 5, at the 1st Mariner Arena. The interactive show, called "Over the Top," will allow ample audience participation. Show times are Wednesday-Saturday 7:30 p.m., Saturday 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and Sunday 5 p.m. There will also be additional matinees. Tickets run $14-$70. Call 410-547-SEAT.

Learn about the circus

The Baltimore Museum of Art will present a behind-the-scenes look at the circus when it features professional clown Cirque Médrano telling Circus Stories Tuesday, March 31, 7 p.m. Médrano will reflect on his life as a circus performer and let audience member participate in an interactive discussion. The talk will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey performers. Admission is free. Call 443-573-1700.

Help for children

The Casey Cares Foundation, which helps children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, will hold a Masquerade Gala Saturday, March 28, 6:30 p.m., at the Grand Lodge Bonnie Blink (304 International Circle in Hunt Valley). Foreign affairs

Johns Hopkins University's Foreign Affairs Symposium presents a lecture by Peter Bergen, CNN's national security analyst Wednesday, April 1, 8 p.m., in the Levering Union, Glass Pavilion. Hunting at Ladew

Ladew Topiary Gardens will hold its Opening Day Saturday, March 28 and an event called Tally Ho! Horses & Hounds at Ladew Sunday, March 29, starting at noon. These day-long events open the season at the Monkton site, with the latter event marking the start of a typical fox chase, replete with hounds, horses and mounted riders. Art at Notre Dame

The College of Notre Dame of Maryland will host an opening reception for the 20th National Drawing and Print Competitive Exhibition Saturday, March 28, from 4 to 6 p.m., in the Gormley Gallery. Allegra Marquart, professor of printmaking at Maryland Institute College of Art, will give a talk. The exhibit contains the work of thirty artists selected from 400, and will run through April 24. Laurel wildlife

Dozens of artists will have their work showcased as part of the annual Patuxent Wildlife Show and Sale, Saturday-Sunday, March 29-30, at the National Wildlife Visitors Center in Laurel (at 10910 Scarlet Tanager Loop). The work of more than 40 nationally and internationally recognized artists and artisans in wildlife art will be showcased.
