Firefighters and paramedics revived a 4-year-old girl July 25 at the Dickinson Pool, in Kings Contrivance, said William Mould, a spokesman for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
Firefighters were called to the east Columbia pool for a report of a drowning, Mould said.

When firefighters arrived on the scene at 1:12 p.m., lifeguards at the pool were attempting to revive the girl, who was recorded without a pulse, according to Mould.

After placing the girl in an ambulance and continuing the attempt to revive her, fire personnel found a pulse and the girl was transported to Howard County General Hospital in critical, but stable condition, Mould said.

The girl was later taken to Johns Hopkins Children Center, in Baltimore, and was in fair condition July 28, Mould said.

The pool is owned by the Columbia Association.

In a statement issued July 28, CA officials noted that the child was recovering.

“CA and it’s board of directors send their best wishes for a speedy recovery,” wrote Shelia Green, a CA spokeswoman.
