Erickson Retirement Communities will host a public information session Dec. 2 about the company's plans for a new senior community on the Doughoregan Manor property.
The public meeting will take place at the Ellicott City Senior Center at 9401 Frederick Road in Ellicott City from 6 to 9 p.m. It will be open house-style, with representatives from Erickson available to answer questions or take comments on the proposal throughout the evening.
The Carroll family, which owns Doughoregan Manor, announced in September that they struck a deal with Erickson to sell 150 acres of land on the eastern edge of their 892-acre estate. In the deal, Erickson received the option to purchase an additional 38 acres in the future. In return, the Carrolls plan to preserve at least 665 acres of their property, including the historic manor itself, and give another 36 acres to the county to expand Kiwanis-Wallis Park.
The proposal still must go before the Planning Board and the County Council.
For more information on the open house, call Chris Siciliano at 410-242-2880, Ext. 2218.
