A Howard County Grand Jury last week indicted two Columbia residents for attempted first-degree murder for a stabbing in Columbia.
The grand jury on Nov. 26 also indicted a North Laurel man for first-degree child abuse in the burning of a two-year-old child.
In the attempted murder case Chezmin B. Suter, 17, of the 7100 block of Talisman Lane, was indicted for attempted first-degree murder along with her mother Michelle Denise Fox, 38, also of Talisman Lane.
At 6:52 p.m. Nov. 2, police responded to the 7200 block of Talisman Lane, in Columbia, where they found a girl stabbed, according to charging documents. According to witnesses, prior to the stabbing Fox pulled up in a vehicle next to a group of four girls and said to one of the girls, “I’ll be waiting for you.”
As the girl and her friends approached Talisman Lane, they saw Suter and Fox coming toward them. A fight ensued, during which Fox said, “Don’t hit my child,” and stabbed the girl in the side, according to charging documents.
The grand jury also indicted Michael Adegoke Oye-Adeniran, of 9230 Traders Crossing, for first-degree child abuse for burning a child in his custody.
Police responded to Laurel Regional Hospital on Oct. 24 for a report of a two-year-old girl who had been burned so severely that she had to be taken to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for treatment, according to court documents.
Oye-Adeniran told police he left the girl in a bathtub with the water running and when he returned the girl’s legs were burned.
A doctor at the hospital told police that the burns appeared intentional, according to court documents
