Howard County police said Friday they have charged a Washington charter school teacher with sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy in the teacher's Ellicott City home.

Ricardo Antonio Cuaderes, 57, of 3109 Normandy Woods Drive, is charged with child sexual abuse and other sex-offense counts, police said.

The boy, a student at Young America Works, a public charter vocational high school, reported to police that he had engaged in sexual contact with Cuaderes, a teacher at the school, in Howard County.

Police believe that Cauderes drove the boy from Washington to his home, where the sexual contact took place. Cuaderes is charged with one count of child sexual abuse, three counts of second-degree sex offenses and two counts of third-degree sex offenses, police said.

Cuaderes is being held in the Howard County Detention Center on $50,000 bond, police said.
