A Carroll County man was killed Thursday night in Clarksville when his Ford Explorer crossed the dotted yellow line on Route 32 and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Suburban, Howard County police said.

Wayne Wagner, 26, of Mount Airy, the driver of the Explorer, was pronounced dead on the scene after the accident, which occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. just south of Linden Church Road, according to police.

The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban, identified by police as Michael Mutchler, 43, of Odenton, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and listed in critical condition.

The Suburban’s four passengers, including three children, were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where all were listed in stable condition, police said.

The accident is still being investigated.
