Howard County police announced Monday they had arrested an Ellicott City man in connection with three armed robberies that took place within a month in Ellicott City.
Michael James Fewster, 30, of 3445 Plum Tree, was charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault, theft and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony, according to police.
Fewster is charged with robberies of an Ellicott City gas station and a convenience store. Two of the robberies occurred May 24 and June 4 at the Crown gas station in the 8500 block of Baltimore National Pike. The third occurred June 6 at the High’s convenience store in the 4800 block of Montgomery Road.
In all three instances, police said, they believe Fewster approached a clerk at the counter, showed a gun and demanded money from the cash register.
Using surveillance videos, police identified a suspect vehicle. An officer spotted and stopped the car a few days later. While Fewster was not driving the vehicle at the time, police came up with additional information and evidence
that led them to identify Fewster, police said.
Fewster is being held on $50,000 bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
