A Glenelg woman was indicted by a federal grand jury June 18 for claiming reimbursement on prescriptions that patients had never requested and for which no drugs were ever dispensed, according to a statement from Rod Rosenstein, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland.
Pamela Arrey, 48, who owned and operated two Medicine Shoppe pharmacies on Liberty Road and Reisterstown Road in Baltimore, was indicted on 12 counts of health care fraud and one of identity theft, according to Rosenstein. Prosecutors are seeking $350,000 that was stolen in the scheme, the statement said.
Arrey is accused of defrauding Medicare and Medicaid, as well as private insurance companies such as Caremark and Aetna, according to the indictment.
Arrey faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for each of the 12 counts of health care fraud and a mandatory minimum sentence of two years in prison for the identity theft count, according to Rosenstein.
