Howard County police announced Monday they had charged an Ellicott City violin instructor with sexually abusing an 11-year-old student during private lessons at his home.

Ming Yueh Liang, 67, of 2812 Deerfield Drive, was charged with eight counts of fourth-degree sex offense and eight counts of second-degree assault, police said.

Police received a report from the girl and her mother that Liang had touched her repeatedly during lessons between March and May of this year. The mother told police she was at the lessons but had an obstructed view of her daughter and Liang. Liang has been released on an unsecured bond, police said.

Police are urging other students who may have been victimized to come forward and contact the department at 410-313-3200.

Dr. Liang is my former violin teacher's husband. Mrs. Liang, I'm sure, didn't know anything about this.
