A new Chipotle restaurant -- the first of the Mexican food eateries in the country to be located in a food court -- will open June 30 at the Mall in Columbia.

The store will be the second Chipotle restaurant in the county, joining another location in the Old Dobbin Station Shopping Center in Columbia. There are currently 13 Chipotle locations in the state.

In a statement, Chipotle Regional Director Phil Petrilli described the Columbia mall as "one of the best retail centers" in the region. "We really believe we will add something exciting to an already vibrant location," he said.

The restaurant, located between McDonald's and Famous Wok on the lower level of the mall, will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Other new restaurants are slated to open in the mall in the near future, including Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Arby's.
