A Mitchellville man was killed Sunday in Columbia after the motorcycle he was driving collided with another motorcycle on Route 100 near Snowden River Parkway.

The collision occurred at about 6 p.m. when the two motorcyclists were traveling well over the posted speed limit on westbound Route 100, police said. The two motorcycles collided, police said, and one of them then struck the guard rail, ejecting the operator.

Ronal Wayne Parker, 41, of Mitchellville was pronounced dead at the scene. The second motorcycle operator, Vincent Williams, 39, of Catonsville, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Police are still investigating the accident.

What a tragedy. I don't understand why some motorcyclists continue to put themselves and the rest of us at risk with their high speed antics. Has anyone else found themselves suddenly in the middle of a pack of high speed ninja bikes that are weaving in and out of traffic? It's terrifying and intimidating. I've called 911 to report them and was told the police can't stop them because they travel over 100 mph. This is the tragic result.

Desiderada; Let it be - it's natural selection. Not all riders have that "bikerboy" attitude - the morons that do are the ones dying off. As long as it's just themselves that they are killing off - I write it off as natural selection. I just hope that either of those boneheads have not had the opportunity to reproduce yet.

Sad thing is, it's just a matter of time before an innocent driver gets killed trying to avoid hitting one of these insane bikers.

this is a tragedy, but it is bikers like these two that give all other bikers a bad name. thats why i belong to abate of maryland to fight for my rights on my bike but its getting harder to fight for my rights when tragedy's like this happens. i just wish other bikes learn from this tragedy and drive there bike like they have since.
