Howard County police announced Monday they had charged two men for an armed bank robbery in Jessup on Friday.

David Wayne Holloway, 43, and David Dwayne Ford, 26, both of Landover, are charged with armed robbery, handgun violations, robbery, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and theft, according to police. Further charges are anticipated.

Police received a call at 9:51 a.m. Friday for an armed robbery at the Bank of America in the 7300 block of Assateague Drive in Jessup. Two men entered the bank brandishing handguns and demanded money. After they got the money, the men fled the bank in a green Dodge Durango, police said.

An off-duty Howard County officer was nearby at a truck stop when a person pointed out two men wearing masks getting out of the Dodge into a tan Nissan Maxima. The officer began to follow the Nissan and activated emergency lights in an attempt to pull over the vehicle.

When the men did not pull over the officer gave chase. The men stopped the Nissan on Cedar Avenue and fled on foot, but were eventually found and taken into custody.

Holloway and Ford are being held at the Howard County Detention Center,  Holloway on no bond and Ford on a $1.5 million bond, according to police.
