Columbia, Mo., Mayor Darwin Hindman visited Columbia, Md., Nov. 3 and took a bike ride around Columbia with about 30 bike enthusiasts.
Mayor Hindman stated that Columbia and Howard County were right for bike enhancements and should follow his town's lead and ask for federal funding to make Howard County more bicycle-friendly. I would like to agree with Russ Swatek's letter to the editor stating that we all need to work together in moving Howard County in healthful and ecological directions and biking together as they do in Columbia, Mo.
I would like to introduce Howard County residents to a group of bike advocates who formed about two years ago in both Columbia and Howard County to bring like-minded folks together to work with our county officials, planners, elected officials and bike advocates to make Howard County into a bike-friendly community. The Bike Advocates of Howard County, under the ablle leadership of Jack Guarneri, can be contacted at FriendsofBAHC@yahoogroups.com. Please join us and let's work together as Mayor Hindman did in Columbia, Mo.
