A Reisterstown couple was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center Dec. 12 after their vehicle was rear-ended on Route 1 in Elkridge.

Marvin Nunez, 29, of Reisterstown, was flown to Shock Trauma after the Isuzu Trooper he was driving was struck from behind by a Toyota Camry driven by Felix Sibilia, 39, of Elkridge, police said. Nunez was attempting to make a right turn from Route 1 into a flea market at 7:15 p.m. when the collision occurred, police said.

The impact of the collision caused the Isuzu to overturn, coming to a rest on its side in the driveway of 7540 Washington Blvd., police said. Nunez's wife, Julie Wilton, who was a passenger in the Isuzu, also was transported to Shock Trauma.

Both Nunez and Wilton were discharged Dec. 13, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Two other people in the Isuzu were not injured, police said.

Sibilia was not injured in the collision, police said, nor were his wife and child, who also were in the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing, according to police.

This area is a major problem on the weekends. I don't understand why our esteemed Howard County Police can't get off their bums and patrol down there. Why doesn't county officials (councilmen) address this issue and enforce county codes! I don't see how we are supposed to believe them when they tell us that other ZRA issues are taken care of when it is obvious that Elkridge infrastructure is unable to handle current growth, much less the proposed growth. Took over a year just to re-stripe Montgomery Rd. in front of Elkridge Commons (another disaster).
