The Salvation Army Howard County Service Center recently received $37,500 in grants from the Horizon and Columbia foundations.

The Horizon Foundation, which promotes health and wellness in Howard County, donated $30,000 for the Salvation Army's Utility Turn-Off and Eviction Assistance Program.

The grant runs through the end of the year.

Columbia Foundation trustees awarded an additional $7,500 to the Howard County branch of the Salvation Army, which has operated here since 1965.

The Salvation Army provides crisis intervention for residents facing eviction or utility turn-off or who are in need of food, clothing and medication.
