Howard County officials will add a second bus to a service that transports county residents to Baltimore-area medical facilities.
HT Ride, a county-sponsored transportation service for senior citizens and those with disabilities, shuttles residents to and from Baltimore medical facilities on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Through a recent grant from the Federal Transit Administration, HT Ride will purchase an additional vehicle and add Baltimore shuttles on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Howard Transit officials announced May 8.
The expanded service schedule will take effect in late summer.
Transportation officials added the second bus in response to an increased demand for the Baltimore shuttle and to allow residents more flexibility in scheduling medical appointments, County Executive Kenneth Ulman said in a statement.
"We are fortunate to reside in close proximity to some the world¹s leading medical experts and facilities," he said. "Howard County has always been a supporter of regional transportation and our shuttle is one more example of how neighboring counties can work together to better serve the entire community."
