Dr. Rashmi K. Parmar, a dentist who practices in Clarksville, has completed an Implant Dentistry Continuum Course in Washington, D.C., which ended in March. The course consisted of lectures and hands-on workshops to give its participants knowledge and confidence to successfully place and restore dental implants.

County Executive Kenneth Ulman and the Office of Children's Services honored individuals and programs that have made a difference in the lives of children, at the annual Celebrating Successes for Children ceremony. The ceremony recognized the contributions and dedication of 84 honorees, including child care providers, speech therapists, Scout leaders, coaches, students and community education programs. Howard County category winners included: Ann Sweeney, a special educator with the Howard County Public Schools' Infants and Toddlers program, Infants and Toddlers Category; Edvina Gill, a teacher at Columbia Montessori, Preschool Category; Kevin McDuffie, coach at Howard High School, who has led his varsity basketball players in a volunteer reading program at Phelps Luck Elementary School, Kindergarten-fifth Grade Category; Irene Bademosi, guidance counselor at Mt. Hebron High School, Sixth-12th Grade Category; Alex Dunbar, a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, summer camp counselor and school volunteer, Mixed Age Group; Brian Daugherty, a junior in high school who speaks to local groups about mental illness, Outstanding Youth; Dan Harris, general manager of the AMC Columbia Theater and Marianne Ross, a parent advocate who together created a Special Needs Movie Night, Family Friendly Business; and Theodore A. Ferguson Sr., a leader in the Gator African American Parents Program that serves Reservoir High School, O'Donnell Family Award.
