Mark and Cheryl Thome, of Catonsville, formerly of Ellicott City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Remy Thome, to Nick Chappell, son of Mike Chappell of Madison, Tenn.; and Diane Fisher, of Falmouth, Maine.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Centennial High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she received a bachelor's degree in sociology. She received a master's degree in counseling and psychology from Framingham State College in 2008.

The future groom graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Case Western University in 2003 and a master's degree in applied behavior analysis from Northeastern University in 2007.

An August wedding in Annapolis is planned.

Lauren N. Hutchison and Kassey C. Dixon

Cathy and Darrin Downey, of Bowie, announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Nichole Hutchison, to Spc. Kassey Craig Dixon, son of Margaret and Sgt. Kim-Craig Dixon, of Elkridge.

The bride-to-be graduated from Bowie High School and is currently attending Anne Arundel Community College, where she is working toward a degree in radiology. She is employed at Washington Hospital Center and is enrolled in imaging school.

The future groom is a graduate of Howard High School. He is currently serving as a military police officer in Iraq. He is expected to return to the United States in October.

A spring 2010 wedding is planned.
