A Howard Community College student was shot and killed in Washington, D.C., over the weekend.

Michael Francis Taylor, 21, of the 900 block of Loxford Terrace, in Silver Spring, was pronounced dead at 10:45 a.m., June 22, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Earlier that morning, police responded to the alley behind the 600 block of Emerson Street, N.W., where they found Taylor lying unconscious in front of the garage at 610 Farragut St., N.W.

Police said Taylor appeared to have suffered from gun shot wounds to his upper body. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office, police said.

When reached by telephone at Taylor’s Silver Spring home June 24, Alex Taylor, Michael’s brother, said his younger brother was studying criminal justice at Howard Community College and was preparing to transfer to a four-year university to continue his studies.

“I really thought he was going to be something really special,” Alex Taylor said of his brother.

Alex Taylor said his brother was outgoing, loved life, and was a “very loyal friend.”

Police ask those with information regarding the case to call 202-727-9099.
