A Havre de Grace man pleaded guilty in Howard County Circuit Court on June 24 to charges that he engaged in a theft scheme to steal money from his Elkridge employers.

Timothy Alan Shipe, 40, of Havre de Grace, pleaded guilty to a single count of theft greater than $500 before Judge Richard Bernhardt, according to Wayne Kirwan, a spokesman for Howard County State's Attorney Dario Broccolino.

While working for the Elkridge-based The Kane Company Office Movers, Shipe disposed of office furniture no longer wanted by the company's clients by sending it to a recycling center, according to a statement of facts in the case. Between 2004 and 2006, Shipe stole approximately $80,000 from his company's recycling revenue, according to the statement.

Shipe faces up to 15 years in prison, Kirwan said, adding that Shipe is currently free on $10,000 bond.

A sentencing hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 18.

Shipe's attorney, Shawn Alcarese, declined to comment.
