Four Howard County building inspectors will participate in a 16-day mission in Iowa, where they will assist in the response efforts after widespread flooding in the state.

County Executive Kenneth Ulman announced this week plans to dispatch the county workers to assist with building inspections in Iowa's Louisa County.

Iowa officials have asked for help in the form of certified building inspectors from the Maryland Emergency Management Agency and similar agencies in other states.

The four Howard inspectors are Sean Kelly, Ed Ackerman, Kenneth Brown and Dave Baer.

They are currently the only building inspectors from Maryland participating in the relief mission, which will be paid for by the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, county officials said.
