Joan Kroedel

Joan Louise Kroedel, of Jessup, and a former resident of Highland, died June 13, 2009. She was 74.

The former Joan Louise Dillman was born Feb. 19, 1935, in Montgomery County to Ellis and Doris Johnson. She was a mother and a housewife. For many years she drove a school bus in Howard County.

Mrs. Kroedel's first husband, Clarence Leon Dillman, to whom she was married to for more than 40 years, died in 1995. She remarried in 2002 to David Paul Kroedel.

She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kroedel also enjoyed spending time on the water at the trailer she owned at Beach Harbor and swimming, gardening, and sitting on her porch in the summer.

Mrs. Kroedel is survived by her children, Edward Dillman, of Falling Waters, W.Va., Michael Dillman, of Sykesville, David Dillman and his wife, Tammy Blake, of Mount Airy, and Shirley Hilderbrand, of Jessup; her sister, Shirley Anderson, of Valentines, Va., six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and second husband, David Kroedel.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave., in Laurel, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 19, 2009, at 1 p.m., at the Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, in Burtonsville.
