Alice E. Harding

Alice E. Harding, 81, of Laurel, died June 13, 2009 at Laurel Regional Hospital.

Born March 30, 1928 in Howard County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Maybelle Sargent. She attended high school in Elkridge. She was a customer service representative for Citizens National Bank for 20 years and worked for 29 years for the Laurel Furniture Store at Fourth and Main streets. She was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Laurel.

Her husband, Norman L. Harding, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Harding is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Chriss A. Knisley Sr. and Lynda Knisley, and Joe L. and Robin Harding; grandchildren Chriss Knisley Jr., Raymond J. Dunivin, Matthew Knisley, Daniel Knisley and Ashley Harding; and great-grandchild Autumn Grace Venable.

Visitation was June 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave. Funeral services will be June 18 at 10 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard Beacham officiating. Burial will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Laurel.

Chip Allen

Chip Allen, 65, a resident of Laurel for 21 years, died June 7, 2009.

Born May 30, 1944, he was the son of the late Joe and Hazel Allen. He was chief engineer for Marriott. He loved flea marketing and "Taz," the Tasmanian Devil; was a football fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Tennessee Titans; and enjoyed blues music. His collections included blues and country music and knives.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Dawn Marie Patton; daughter and son-in-law Kristina and Ryan Meeks; grandchild Tyler Meeks; nephews and nieces Michael, William, Jen-Jen, Nicky, Christopher, Jamie, Kyleigh, Josh, Sean, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Ashley, Brittany, Kristen and Samantha; and his dogs, Trouble, Bambi, Chance, Scout and Moose.

Visitation was June 12 from noon to 2 p.m., immediately followed by memorial services, at Fleck Funeral Home, 7601 Sandy Spring Road.
