Donald H. O'Sullivan

Donald Henderson O'Sullivan, of Columbia, died June 19, 2009, at Howard County General Hospital. He was 75.

The second of four children, Mr. O'Sullivan was born in October 1933, in San Antonio, to John Denis O'Sullivan and Nelle (Bennett) O'Sullivan.

He spent his childhood in the mountains of Totz, Ky. In 1953, he enlisted in the Army and served abroad in the Army Security Agency.

Mr. O'Sullivan moved to Washington, D.C., in 1956, accepting a position with the National Security Agency. He served his country for 38 more years until retirement.

While living in Washington, he was introduced by friends to Mabel Baryiames, and they married in November 1966. In 1969, they moved to Columbia.

Mr. O'Sullivan was loved by all who knew him, family members said.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Baryiames; his son, Tom; and his sister, Eileen Cowart.

Family will receive friends Saturday, June 27, 2009, from 1 to 2 p.m. at The Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, in Columbia, with a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.

Memorial donations can be made to the Fisher House Foundation, which enables families to live close to loved ones being treated in military and VA hospitals. Checks made out to the Fisher House Foundation may be sent to 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420 Rockville, MD 20850.
