Paul J. Kelley
Paul J. Kelley Jr., of Clarksville, died June 15, 2009, at the Gilchrist Hospice Center, in Towson, after a brief illness. He was 54.
Mr. Kelley was born April 25, 1955, in Boston, and he was the a son of Paul J. Sr. and Elizabeth C. (O'Neil) Kelley.
He graduated with a bachelors' degree in criminal justice from Westfield State College, in Westfield, Mass., and was employed as a security specialist with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, in Rockville. Before taking that position, Mr. Kelley was employed with the Department of Defense, the Army Research Laboratory and began his career serving with the U.S. Capitol Police.
A member of Saint Luke Lutheran Church, Mr. Kelley was active in youth hockey programs, serving as head coach of the ice hockey team at River Hill High School for the past 10 years and coached in the Howard County Youth Hockey Program. He also sat on the Board of the Jim O'Malley Memorial Golf Tournament and was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan.
He was the husband of Shelva "Shel" J. (Myers) Kelley, with whom he celebrated a 26th wedding anniversary on Nov. 7, 2008.
Mr. Kelley was fond of his Dalmatian, Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Along with his wife, Mr. Kelley is survived by a son, Paul J. Kelley III; a daughter, Alison E. Kelley, both of Clarksville; two sisters, Lisa Guernon, of North Scituate, R.I., Sally Huxley, of Lakeville, Mass; and a brother, James Kelley, of Wyoming, R.I.
A memorial service was held June 20, 2009, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, in Silver Spring, with the Rev. Connie A. Miller officiating, assisted by his brother-in-law, the Rev. Bryan L. Myers.
Interment was to be held at the convenience of the family.
