Bernice A. Kahler

Bernice Almira Kahler, of Ellicott City, died June 21, 2009, at the College View Rehabilitation Center, in Frederick. She was 80.

She was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Howard County, and was the daughter of Crawford and Orpha Engle Moxley. She was the wife of Edwin Kahler.

Mrs. Kahler worked for many years in banking. She worked at the former Sykesville State Bank, which was acquired by Maryland National Bank. She worked in both Sykesville and West Friendship locations.

A lifelong member of Gary United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Bruce Morris; and sisters Mary Wrightson, Eileen White and Audrey Kefauver.

She is survived by her nieces, Barbara Myers, of Woodbine, and Darlene Heflin, of Marriottsville; and step-children, Miles Kahler, of Calif., and Bonnie Kahler and Jackie Kahler Burnham, both of Baltimore.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Gary Memorial United Methodist Church, Daniels Road, in Ellicott City, with the Rev. Luther Starnes officiating. Interment will be in Mount View Cemetery, in Marriottsville.
