Dorothy Altman

Dorothy Louise Freking Altman, of Sykesville, died June 16, 2009, at her home. She was 81.

Born Dec. 30, 1927, in Bloomington, Ind., she was the daughter of Henry A.L. and Dorothy Eldredge Freking. She was the wife of Jerome J. Altman, who preceded her in death in 1976.

Mrs. Altman had been a homemaker for most of her life. She had received a graduate degree in occupational therapy.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Henry A. L. Freking Jr., and Barbara Freking.

Mrs. Altman is survived by her son, Jeremy Eldredge Altman, of Ellicott City; her daughter, Alicia Altman Southwell, of Weston, Mass.; and her grandchildren, Austin, Colin and Julia Altman, and Elizabeth and Edward Southwell.

A memorial service was held June 19, 2009, at the Fairhaven Chapel, in Sykesville. Interment was private.
