Woodrow E. "Woody" Frey, 93, of Silver Spring, who formerly lived in Laurel, died June 16, 2009 at his residence in Riderwood Village Retirement Community in Silver Spring.
Born Feb. 18, 1916 in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Elmer and Miriam (Hunt) Frey. He was a resident of Bethlehem, Pa., for more than 50 years before moving to Laurel and eventually to Riderwood. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem. He was employed by Atlantic Oil Company as a chauffeur.
His wife, Miriam Frey, a sister, Rita Curry, and a brother, Carl Frey, preceded him in death.
Mr. Frey is survived by his daughter, Sonia (Frey) Redfield, of Laurel; two nieces; and a nephew.
A graveside funeral service was held June 19 at 11 a.m. at Northhampton Memorial Shrine in Easton, Pa.

Charles G. Hilbun
Charles Gibson "Charlie" Hilbun, 70, of Laurel, died June 17, 2009 at Gladys Spellman Specialty Hospital in Cheverly, after a four-month struggle to come back from a heart attack and lung disease.
He was born Nov. 18, 1938 in Louisville, Ky. He was a medic in the First Army medical lab and served for three years. He graduated from Youngstown State University, in Youngstown, Ohio, where he majored in biology and lettered in golf. He spent many years in the food industry, having worked for Gorton Seafood as manager of the seafood plant in Miami, Fla. After moving to Laurel in 1971, he worked for Eden and Tye Food Brokers and was an assistant buyer for Saval Food Services in Baltimore and Elkridge. The greatest love of his live was golf. He worked on the grounds crew at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda and was promoted to director of play, and was assistant golf pro at Indian Springs Country Club in Silver Spring. After he retired, he worked mowing fairways at Cross Creek Golf and Country Club in Beltsville. He was also a model railroader, and built a display in his basement, which he shared with his grandsons. His also enjoyed woodworking, nature, the environment and animals.
His father, Ollie Hilbun, preceded him in death.
Mr. Hilbun is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elaine; son Steven L. Hilbun and his wife, Diana, and their children, Layla and Brendan, and Stacey Lee Hilbun and her companion, Michael Belle, of Manchester; son David Matthew Hilbun and his wife, Angela, and their children, Xania, Gage and Brody Hilbun; mother Nettie Hilbun, of Youngstown, Ohio; brother James Hilbun and his wife, Linda, and their sons Robbie and Mark and their families, of Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, of Ohio, and Miami, Fla.
A memorial service and luncheon in celebration of his life was held June 20 at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge.
