Nancy P. Souders
Nancy Patton Souders, 79, a resident of Laurel since 1962, died June 25, 2009 at her home.
Born Nov. 3, 1929 in Petersburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Fleta Patton. She married William Alfred Souders on Sept. 2, 1950 and moved to Pennsylvania. She was an artist in many different mediums, including stained glass, wood working and ceramics. She enjoyed fishing, bird watching and the ocean. She was a gardener and had a talent for making everyone feel welcome around her.
In addition to her parents, her husband, William Souders, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Souders is survived by her daughters, Barbara Barger and her husband, Greg, and Beth Robinson and her husband, Carl; grandchildren Erin Muscarella and husband Tony, Justin Barger and wife Jenny, Sarah Hunley and husband Ron, Tricia Barger, Josh Robinson and wife Shannon, and Laura Barger; and great-grandchildren Brooke, Emma, Madison, Lily, Ava, Zachary and Nathaniel.
Burial was at Union Cemetery in Burtonsville. Arrangements were made by Fleck Funeral Home, 7601 Sandy Spring Road.
Ina M. Bivens
Ina Mariam Bivens, 94, a Laurel resident for 67 years, who formerly lived in North Carolina, died July 5, 2009 at her home.
Born Sept. 18, 1914 in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. Gaddy. She grew up in North Carolina. She was a clerical worker. A member of First Baptist Church of Laurel, she taught Sunday school there from the 1960s to 1980s. An avid bowler, she was a member of the Senior Bowling League on Wednesday mornings. She is remembered as having influenced many people through her kindness and faith.
Her husband, Broughton “Toby” Bivens, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bivens is survived by her daughter, Brenda Melissa Fujii, of Belleville, Mich.; son Richard “Dick” Bivens, of Crownsville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be July 15 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Laurel, 15000 First Baptist Lane, with the Rev. Emmanuel Ephraim officiating.
Robin Y. Plumley
Robin Yvette Plumley, 54, recently of Severn, who formerly lived in Laurel, died July 3, 2009 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie.
She was born March 11, 1955 in Olney, daughter of the late Lowell C. and Hazel C. (Bishop) Edens. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed family and grandchildren, bingo and poker.
Two brothers, Terry and Danny Edens, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Plumley is survived by her husband of 18 years, Carl Plumley, whom she had been with for 25 years; daughter Crystal Parzow; son Scott Plumley; grandchildren Donovan Walker, Scott Plumley Jr., Cailyn Parzow and Keira Plumley; sister Mary Miller; and brothers Benny, Roger, Mickey, Keith and Daryle Edens.
Visitation was July 8, 2009 from 10 a.m. to noon at Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel, 313 Talbott Ave., with funeral services at noon in
the chapel with the Rev. Beahm officiating. Burial was at Union Cemetery in Burtonsville.
