Barbara Larimore
Barbara Stone Larimore, of Woodbine, died July 21, 2009, at Montgomery General Hospital, in Olney. She was 80.
Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Harrisburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Jesse H. and Mabel Winn Stone. She was the wife of Alanson L. Larimore, of Woodbine.
Mrs. Larimore grew up in New Cumberland, Pa. She was a graduate of New Cumberland High School, Class of 1946, and a graduate of Washington College, in Chestertown, Class of 1950, where she graduated with a bachelor of arts and was homecoming queen in 1949.
Volunteering her time was a way of life for her, family members said. She had been active in the Howard County 4-H and the Howard County Fair, and was a 4-H All Star for her 40 years of service.
She worked as a substitute teacher at Glenelg High School for 20 years. She was a member of the Cattail River Garden Club, and enjoyed making dried flower arrangements.
Mrs. Larimore was a long-time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Poplar Springs, where she served on the Altar Guild and volunteered at the thrift shop.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Betsy Gould and her husband, Bruce, of Columbia; Susan L. Curtiss, of Lutz, Fla.; Patricia L. Larimore, of Arlington, Va.; Thomas S. Larimore and his wife, Barbara Feaga, of Woodbine, and Andrew W. Larimore and his wife, Kristin, of Frederick; and her brother, Jesse H. Stone Jr., of New Cumberland. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held July 25, 2009, at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Poplar Springs, with the Rev. Dr. Ann Boyd officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, in Glenwood.
