William Norman Lucas Jr., of Elkridge, died May 24, 2008, of cardiac arrest, at his residence. He was 54.
Born July 5, 1953, in Baltimore, to William N. Sr. and Doris Lucas, he grew up in Arbutus and graduated from Lansdowne High School.
He married Valerie C. Thornton in 2001.
Mr. Lucas worked for the Baltimore County Public School system for 11 years, working first as a grounds-keeper before being transferred to a position as a painter and glazer.
He was a member of the Violetville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Raven's Roost #24.
Family members recall that he enjoyed fishing, home repair -- including fixing furniture and appliances -- and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Lucas was predeceased by his mother, Doris Lucas.
In addition to his wife of seven years, he is survived by two sons, William N. Lucas III, of Edgewater and Matthew David Lucas, of Columbia; and his father, William N. Lucas Sr., of Baltimore.
Funeral services were held May 29, 2008, at Our Lady of Victory, in Baltimore.
Interment followed at Meadowridge Memorial Park, in Elkridge.
