Raymond L. Jacobs

Raymond Leroy Jacobs, of Ellicott City, died June 1, 2008, of congestive heart failure, at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. He was 97.

He was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Baltimore, to Henry C. and Linnie Etta Anders Jacobs.

In 1933, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served in Panama. He was honorably discharged in 1937. Family said that he was an expert in gun ammunitions.

He married Lottie Elaine Wheatley in 1938.

Mr. Jacobs owned and operated his own real estate firm, called Jacobs Realty, in Hunting Ridge, from 1945 to 1985. He retired that year and closed the company. He served as an associate broker for the company.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles S. Jacobs and Floyd Jacobs; four sisters, Sarah Mick, Ada Newman, Mary O'Connor and Lula Sellers; and a granddaughter, Karen Lynn Bousman.

In addition to his wife of 69 years, Mr. Jacobs is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Lois Elaine and Weston P. Bousman, of Ellicott City; a granddaughter, Wendy Marie Farthing, of Ellicott City; and two great-grandchildren, Charles Alexander Farthing and Samuel Weston Farthing, both of Ellicott City.

Funeral services were held June 4, 2008, at Slack Funeral Home, in Ellicott City. The Rev. Nicholas Szobota officiated.

A private interment followed June 4, 2008, at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, in Dulaney Valley.
