Nicholas J Chaconas Jr., of Mount Airy, died May 31, 2008, of complications from lung cancer, at his residence. He was 66.
Born May 4, 1942, in Washington, D.C., to Nicholas J. Sr. and Margaret Brown Chaconas, he graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1960.
He married Patricia White in 1963.
Mr. Chaconas owned and operated C&M Foundation Inc., in Mount Airy, for 17 years, which has since closed, and A1 Crack Repair Inc., also in Mount Airy, for seven years. The business is now being run by his son.
Mr. Chaconas was a resident of Mount Airy for 33 years.
In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Chaconas, of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Cynthia Chaconas, of Wynfield, and Shawn Chaconas, of Los Angeles; a sister and a brother-in-law, Margaret and Eric Adamson, of South Carolina; and five grandchildren, Jonathan Biden, Ashley Chaconas, Nicholas Chaconas, Grant Chaconas and Reid Chaconas.
A Mass of Christian burial was held June 5, 2008, at St. Anthony Shrine, in Emmitsburg. The Rev. John Lombardi officiated.
Interment followed at Mount Carmel cemetery.
