Mary A. Sherman
Mary Alice Sherman, of Jessup, died June 10, 2008, at Laurel Regional Hospital. She was 75.
She was born July 19, 1932, in Oakland, to John Vernon and Mary Alverta Merryman Poe.
She married Gilbert "John" Isaiah Sherman in the late 1940s.
Mrs. Sherman worked as a technician for Baxter Co., in Savage for more than 20 years. She retired in the mid-1980s.
She was a resident of Jessup for more than 50 years.
She was a member of the Laurel Senior Center and the Savage Senior Center, where she called Bingo and sent out sympathy and birthday cards.
Mrs. Sherman was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Gilbert "John" Isaiah Sherman, who died in 1998; her parents, John Vernon Poe and Mary Alverta Merryman Poe; and two brothers, Jackie Poe and Vernon Merryman.
Family members recall that Mrs. Sherman, whose favorite saying was "I know," was a giving person, made sure that all her nieces and nephews received Christmas gifts each year.
She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Gilbert Michael Sherman and Sharon D. Maenner, of Jessup; a sister, Ann LaRue, of Oella; three brothers, James Edward Poe, of Sykesville, Ronald Lee Poe, of Catonsville and Gary Dean Poe, of Parkville; and a grandson, Gregory Michael Sherman, of Ellicott City.
Funeral services were held June 14, 2008, at Donaldson Funeral Home in Laurel. The Rev. Lyman Burnsed presided.
Interment followed at Savage Cemetery.
