Dorothy Jane Sander, of Hanover, died June 18, 2008, of natural causes, at her residence. She was 86.

Born Aug. 29, 1921, in Baltimore, to John Aloysius and Emma Marie Kronenberg Dorsey, she graduated from high school in 1937.

She married John Sander in 1942.

Mrs. Sander worked as an accountant for the Rouse Co. for 17 years.

Family members recall that Mrs. Sander was a caring and kind person.

She was predeceased by her husband of 19 years, John Sander, who died in 1961; two sisters, Eleanor Kelbaugh and Thelma Ryall; and a brother, John A. Dorsey.

Mrs. Sander is survived by a daughter, Sister Mary Joseph (Dorothy Jane Sander), of Virginia; six sisters, Ruth Rettaliata, of Howard County, Mildred Todd, of Columbia, Marie Wiedefeld, of Friendship, Margaret Rettaliata, of Howard County, Jean D. Grant, of Hanover and Patricia Taylor, of Virginia; and a brother, Robert Dorsey, of Ellicott City, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial was held June 21, 2008, at St. Lawrence Church in Jessup. The Rev. Juan Vazquez officiated.

Interment followed at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge.
