Taking pot shots at family values-touting politicans brought low by their failure to live up to their own holier-than-thou pronouncements never gets old, does it?

Some local observers have naturally weighed in on the matter of South Carolina’s Gov. Mark Sanford, who mysteriously disappeared for several days. Turns out the married governor had high-tailed it to Argentina to be with a woman with whom he’d had a year-long affair.

One poster on the Howard County Maryland Blog offered, “If Mark Sanford shows up at his press conference today with some long-lost elderly Nazi in handcuffs, all is forgiven.”

County Executive Ken Ulman, apparently looking to forestall speculation, noted on his Facebook page, “I am in Solomon’s Island for MACO (Maryland Association of Counties) retreat. My wife and my staff know exactly where I am.”

Not that anybody asked.

But as he is widely believed to have gubernatorial aspirations of his own, Ulman’s probably wise to get the drill down pat.
