Three cheers for the Howard County Police Department's Bike Patrol!

Twice in the last week I've seen our boys in blue on bikes, pedaling around our neighborhoods.

For car drivers, seeing police on bicycles is a reminder that bicyclists really do have a right to the roads.

For cyclists, it's a display of proper bicycle use of roadways.

For the police, it's a chance to learn which sections of our bike paths, sidewalks and roadways need improvement for cyclists.

As a person who performs local errands by bike, I find this patrol's visibility a welcome development.
