This weekend the village of Oakland Mills will celebrate its 40th birthday. Oakland Mills is proud to be Columbia's second oldest village and the first village on Columbia's east side.

We have many great events planned for the weekend of June 27-29. The events will be fun for all ages!

Oakland Mills celebrates its past, our pioneers (those who moved here 40 years ago), our rich history and our present accomplishments. We are a proud community, a community that embraces diversity, a community that appreciates who we are and continues to strive to be all that we can be. There is great potential in Oakland Mills. Our community has come together to revitalize and enthusiastically works toward a better tomorrow.

Oakland Mills would not be where it is today without strong and supportive community leaders and volunteers. We have an active volunteer base of over 200 residents. We work side by side with our neighbors, educators and business leaders in the neighborhoods of Stevens Forest, Talbott Springs and Thunder Hill. We continue to have the support of the Columbia Association, Howard County government and local nonprofits. As we look to the future we will welcome the occupants of the Meridian Square development to our business community, look forward to the opening of Blandair Park -- which will be a treasure in the middle of our village -- and look forward to a bright and promising future for Oakland Mills.

We invite you to celebrate our 40th birthday with us.
