    A sampling of seminars, fundraisers and concerts in Howard County.


    July 4:

    • River Hill parade, 9:15 a.m. Parade route travels along Great Star Drive from Guilford Road to Signal Bell Lane, in Clarksville.

    • Longfellow parade, 10 a.m. Parade begins at Longfellow Elementary School on Hesperus Drive and ends at Eliots Oak Road. Community softball game will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Cedar Lane Park, in Columbia.

    • Fourth of July celebration and fireworks, events and live music begin at 5 p.m., fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Lake Kittamaqundi, in Columbia. For more information, go to www.howardcountymd.gov or call the Department of Recreation and Parks at 410-313-1671.

    July 9: Smart Start to Business Success, 8:30 a.m.-noon. Topics include selecting the appropriate legal business entity, financial records, getting start-up money, insurance options and Howard County's business resources.
