Running

Centennial Fun Run

The July 22 Centennial Fun Run turned into a true fun run when the race time recording machine failed to function. More than 180 runners completed the scenic, hilly one-mile course and enjoyed the music of Bayside Banjo and a visit from three large white Pets on Wheels dogs.

The next Fun Run is Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Centennial neighborhood. The season ends with the Partners' Relay and awards party Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. For additional information, call 410-465-7735 or go to www.Striders.net.

Golf

Turf Valley Women

Though some of the Turf Valley Women's 18-Hole Group didn't even want to talk about their golf games at Turf Valley Thursday, July 24, it was agreed that the weather was beautiful.

Some, however, were reasonably pleased with their games as they vied for the Chairman's Trophy.

Helen Griffin, by retrogression, was the net winner (75) for A1. She also took low gross (95). Sue Song tied for low net honors and won low putts (34). Cindy Starnes was the A2 trophy winner with a net 72 and she too had low gross honors (97).

Janice Jennings was the low putts winner (33). B1 player, Grace Perna, was the trophy winner with a net 74 and, as in the other flights, shot the lowest gross score (103).

Marge Meisinger putted better, though (31). Kathy Sappington, who continues to improve nicely, took low gross (109) and net/trophy honors (69), but newcomer Linda MacArthur was the best putter of all (29).
