En route to the end zone on a 25-yard touchdown run, Drew Ashley left six Hawks in his wake. He also scored the extra point.

The next score came by way of Malik Davis' run from 20 yards out.

Hobson 12 yards (two carries) and Malik Holland eight yards (two carries).

The team's defense was led by Paye (six tackles), Saunders (four tackles), Jamir Wilson (three tackles), Ashley, Mitchell, Gormus, Gorham, Saul Whitaker and Chase Conley each had two tackles, while Hobson, Davis and Darius Khademi added one tackle apiece.

The 7-9 National Columbia Ravens improve to 5-0 after defeating the Urbana Hawks, 28-6, in Mid-Maryland Youth Football action.

Myles Williams recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff, and the Ravens were in control the rest of the game.

The Ravens scored on the opening drive when Andrew O'Donnell took it in from five yards out. The Ravens struck again early in the second quarter when O'Donnell ran 70 yards for a score. O'Donnell led the team with 88 yards on five carries.

The offensive line of Sam Wiedorfer, Kyle Fehr, Kyle Farrar, Jordan Cooper and Kemi Moore created great running lanes for the offensive backs throughout the game. Austin Manriquez and Griffin Corbett contributed on offense and special teams play. The Ravens took a 20-0 lead into the half following another score by Bradsher.

Urbana scored on its opening drive of the second half.

The Ravens added a late touchdown in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring on a 5-yard run from Bradsher.

Soccer

Columbia Soccer Cub travel

Columbia Soccer Club Storm Runners (U-13 girls) defeated the Perry Hall Tornadoes, 2-1, in a rain-soaked Baltimore Beltway Soccer League game Sept. 27. After falling behind early, the Storm Runners got two goals from center forward Julie Delmont to take the lead going into half time.

The Storm Runners had numerous scoring opportunities in the second half but great goal keeping and the driving rain kept the ball from going into the net despite constant pressure applied by forwards Sarah Levin, Delmont, Mackenzie Rynn and Jenny Haynes.

Goalie Katherine MacKie and defenders Maddie Jones, Becca Riley, Vivian Yang and Katrina Vickers combined with the midfield of Christina Kochanski, Emily Powers, Megan Blodgett and Erica Noppinger to keep the ball in the Perry Hall end of the field for most of the second half.

The Storm Runners are 3-0 on the season.
