As the younger players, in effect, the feeder system of the high school sports program, the talents of junior varsity teams aren't showcased as prominently as the varsity squads. They aren't offered the prime-time game time and fans are shuffling in (or out) as they play. County wide team standings aren't kept, and scores aren't reported, but that doesn't mean that the effort isn't there.

"All JV teams work much harder than anyone gives them credit for," Atholton JV field hockey coach Sabrina Clever said. Her sentiments were echoed by JV coaches in other sports.
