Sports physicals
Kernan Sports Medicine and the University of Maryland Sports Medicine will offer high school sports physicals, by appointment only, July 26 at Central Maryland Rehabilitation in Columbia from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Sports physicals will also be offered Aug. 2 at Kernan Physical Therapy in Woodlawn and Aug. 9 in College Park. Call 410-298-0990 for an appointment.
Sports camps
The Glenelg High School Boosters are sponsoring week-long summer sports camps in soccer, co-ed volleyball, football, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, softball and field hockey. The camps are for rising sixth- through ninth-graders. Go to www.glenelgboosters.com.
Baseball
Denis Ahearn's Eagles Baseball School will be held June 22-26 and Aug. 3-7 at Centennial High School. The camp meets from 9-noon and is limited to 25 players ages 10-14 (eighth grade) for each session. Cost: $165 per session ($300 for both). The regular meeting of Talkin' Baseball will be held June 13 at 9 a.m. at the Brighton Gardens Assisted Living, Minstrel Way, Columbia. Robert Goldman will talk about his book, "Curt Flood vs. Baseball."
The Crab Claw Classic combine will be held Aug. 7 at Joe Cannon Stadium from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 4-8:30 p.m. The combine is for high school baseball players who will graduate in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and are interested in playing college baseball. Running
The 31st annual Centennial Fun Run season begins June 16. The one-mile run begins with a 7:30 p.m. start at 10114 Colonial Drive in the Centennial neighborhood. The first race in the series is a fundraiser for the National Family Caregivers Association; a $2 donation is suggested. Doug Dellinger Memorial Scholarship is holding its first 3 on 3 Basketball Challenge June 13 at Chapelgate Christian Academy, 2600 Marriottsville Road. The Howard County rec department is registering for its beginner, intermediate and high school development field hockey camps, which run Monday-Thursday.
