Kangaroo Kids
Members of the Kangaroo Kids competition team competed in jump rope at an AAU tournament June 6 in Woodbridge, Va. There were 99 athletes participating from Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia. The top 10 overall competitors in each division qualify to compete at the AAU Junior Olympics this summer in Des Moines, Iowa.

Basketball
Columbia Ravens
The girls 14-U National Columbia Ravens went 4-0 to capture the U-15 division of the Charm City Atlantic Coast Showdown recently. The Ravens defeated teams from Liberty and Arlington to win the championship.
The boys 14-U Columbia Ravens also won the Charm City Atlantic Coast Showdown.
The girls 12-U National Columbia Ravens went undefeated to win the Maryland State YBOA championship. The Ravens defeated the Western Howard County Comets and the Central Maryland Attitude in the final rounds of the event. The Ravens are invited to play in the national tournament in Florida this Summer.
The boys 15-U Columbia Ravens (Coach Franks) have qualified to play in the AAU Division I national tournament. They will travel to Las Vegas to play in the West Coast National tournament. The Ravens recently placed third in the Delaware Super Regional; earlier they finished second in the Urban Youth Invitational in Pennsylvania.
More than 60 teams participated in the Columbia Ravens' spring season. The league champions and runners-up were:

Soccer
Soccer Association of Columbia travel
The SAC Premier Sharks (U-10 girls) defeated Bethesda Blue, 3-1, in their final game of the season. The victory culminated a great spring that saw the team crowned as the CMSSL U-10 girls champion.
In addition, the Sharks played in the SAC Classic Tournament Memorial Day weekend and dominated in their division, defeating teams from Rochester, NY, 2-0; Annandale, Va., 4-0, and Frederick, 2-0. The Sharks played Loudoun, Va. to a tie in the final game. The champion was determined by penalty kicks as the tie breaker.
During the tournament, six different girls scored goals. The team consists of Jenny Kinsey, Sara Binkley, Kasey Gibbons, Allie Durkee, Grace Regal, Megan Oliver, Rachel Kim, Leah Zadjura, Cristina Narron, Sorana Larson, Morgan Manning and Katie Kennedy.

Beautiful weather greeted 53 runners at the seventh race in the Howard County Striders' spring weekly series held at Burleigh Manor Middle School June 14. Mark Buschman and Sarah Lebro won the 5k race.
