HCYP Patriots travel

The Howard County Youth Program's 14-U Patriots Red travel team won the ASA Catonsville Chaos "B" Qualifier July 25-26, going undefeated.

Throughout the tournament, the Patriots, playing with a diminished roster, got often stellar defensive play from outfielders Rachael Bell, Lauren Black, Jackie LaPointe and Taylor Latimer and infielders Kristin Bianca, Alex CitaraManis, Summer Crosswhite, Hannah Ouelette and Stephanie Whealton.

Bianca and Latimer, who split time at catcher, both gunned down multiple base-stealers. Pitchers LaPointe and Julia Miller notched excellent performances, giving up no more than two earned runs in any single game.

Notable among the offensive output were Crosswhite's ground-rule double, a Bell triple and a CitaraManis home run.

Maryland Chill travel

After a very successful season the MD Chill Black 12-U participated in the July 20-26 USSSA sponsored 13-U and 18-U "B" Eastern World Series softball tournament. The tournament was held in Salisbury. The Chill then lost to the Duchess Deps from New York before beating the Sunraze (Ohio) team, 6-1.
