Sixty-three runners turned out for the fourth race in the Howard County Striders' Fall Series at Longfellow Elementary School Oct. 11. Ted Poulos and Brittney Rooks won the two-mile races, Luis Navarro and Sari Chapman won the 10k and Karsten Brown and Jill Robinson won the 15k races. Top finishes:

Football
The Columbia Ravens 10-12 National team recorded its fourth consecutive shutout by beating the Olney Bears, 28-0.
After Drew Ashley's 33-yard run, Brian Jangro plunged it in from the 1-yard line for the Ravens' first touchdown. Saul Whitaker kicked the extra points.
The Ravens punched it in again when Ashley took it in from 16 yards out. Whitaker kicked the extra points.
Ashley found pay dirt from 32 yards out for the Ravens' third score. The final touchdown came on R.J. Hobson's three-yard run after a 12-yard set-up run by Malik Davis.
The offensive line of John Koh, Ryan Gallagher, Alex Dagan, Connor Jangro, Tyler Gormus and Whitaker allowed 206 yards rushing.
The defense was anchored by Darius Kahdemi, Miles Franklin, Damien Farmer (three sacks), Malik Holland, Gormus, Whitaker, Chase Conley, Keon Paye, Ashley and Davis.
The Columbia Ravens 10-12 Centennial team advanced its record to 6-0 by beating the North Carroll Panthers, 30-0. The Ravens are the only undefeated team in their division.
The Ravens were led by quarterback Drew Pritchard. The disciplined offensive line was led by Zach Beard. The Ravens received touchdowns from Pritchard and Cuinn Mullins and Steven Jordan, the leading rusher with 115 yards.
The Ravens crushing defense, led by linebackers Denaro Lemaire, Max Schuster and Joe Grabowski, proved to be unstoppable with an assortment a blitzes and a fast secondary that included Jarrod Bozom, Hans Wicklein and Nigel Thomas. The Ravens have allowed just 19 points all season.
The defense also owes its success to bruising hits from Jimmy McEneaney, Saif Bryant, Jovan Branch and a flock of other hard-nosed players, including Devin Saunders, Zach Denison, Jason Harwerth, Danny Arnold and Keith Blucher.

Soccer Association of Columbia travel
The SAC United 1 (U-9 boys) won two of three matches in SAC Columbus Day Tournament. United lost to Cape St. Claire, 1-0, then beat Crofton, 2-1, and Freedom, 1-0.
William Vasilios and Ryan Saunderson scored against Crofton. Justin Harris scored off an assist from Brennan Reamer against Freedom.
Saunderson and Alex Hedge provided great goalkeeping.
