Football

Mid-Maryland Football and Cheer League

The Western Howard County Warhawks 10-12 National team (12-0) defeated the Columbia Ravens (9-3) for the second time this season, 30-8, to win the Mid-Maryland Super Bowl Championship.

The Columbia Ravens 10-12 Central completed a perfect season (11-0) as they tamed the Elkridge Hurricanes, 20-0, in the Mid-Maryland Youth Football and Cheer League Super Bowl Nov. 13. The Ravens handed out their sixth-straight shutout and currently hold the No. 1 defense in the state at their level.

Touchdowns were scored by Drew Pritchard, Max Schuster and Steven Jordan, who combined for more than 200 yards rushing. This however could not have been accomplished without excellent blocking from Cuinn Mullins and Nigel Thomas and the offensive line domination or Zach Beard, Danny Arnold, Jason Harwerth and Devin Saunders.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Ravens set the tone early with hard hitting from their front line of Saif Bryant, Jimmy McEneaney, Zach Denison, Jovan Branch and Keith Blucher. Linebackers Denaro Lemaire, Joe Grabowski and Hans Wickline caused three crucial turnovers at critical points of the game, taking the wind out of the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes' passing assault was neutralized by solid secondary play from Jerrod Boszom.

The Ravens would like to commend the Hurricanes on a hard-fought battle, with recognition to players Sean Curly, Tyler Morris, Trevell Agard and the rest of the team as runners-up in the league.

In their bid for a state championship, the Ravens next play at Nov. 29 at 6:45 p.m. at Cedar Lane Park.
