Glenelg defeated North County, 54-12, on Friday, opening night of the 2009-2010 Howard County wrestling season.

J.D. Pohutsky started the match with a pin of North County's Pat Hyde at 215. Nick Hoyt (285), Ryan Carter (103) and Zach Lewis (112) followed with pins of their own to give the home team a 24-0 lead.

Nick Caffrey (125) defeated North County's state qualifier Larry Brent by a 7-4 decision. Zack Gerber (second period pin), Brendan Conway, John Milani and Jack Borkowski also started the season 1-0 for the Gladiators.

Mike O'Leary (160), a regional champion in 2009, gave Glenelg its sixth pin of the evening.
